Blue health insurance card required per. August 1, 2014

Bluecard is now a requirement

The Folketing decided on 06.02.14 that travel abroad after 1.08.14 requires the blue health insurance card and travel insurance. The blue health insurance card can be ordered at www.borger.dk with NemId. It takes 2-3 weeks to get it sent, so order the card well in advance of departure.

FACTS:
- The well-known yellow card can only be used in Denmark
- The blue card must be used abroad, also in the Nordic countries
- The blue card provides the same coverage abroad that the local population receives.
In France, this means concretely that one e.g. must pay a fee of DKK 175.00 to go to the doctor.
- Home transport in case of illness is not covered by the blue card.

Therefore, consider taking out additional health insurance.
